Marketing Advisory Board

The Marketing Advisory Board meets on the first Wednesday of every other month to review and plan the program of marketing the City of Mineola, its activities, events and news. Board meets in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 8:30 AM.

The purpose of the Marketing Advisory Board is to advise the spending of budgeted hotel occupancy tax revenue for marketing and advertising the City of Mineola and its events, activities and attractions for the purpose of increasing overnight stays in Mineola lodging. 

Seven members of the board are appointed by City Council for a two-year terms and may be reappointed when terms expire. Board members must reside within the City of Mineola or within the Mineola ISD boundary,  and represent the following: Lodging; Mineola Civic Center; a museum or any other historical or tourism related board or business; Mineola Chamber of Commerce; Downtown merchants, Mineola Landmark Commission, Wisener Field or any other attraction in the City.  There may also be four ex-officio members that can include: city manager, assistant city manager, city secretary, and marketing/tourism director.  

Goals met in 2023:

  • Worked with marketing director to advise advertising and
    marketing development

  • Maintained a regional advertising campaigns

  • Maintained membership in North East Texas Tourism Council - includes ads and narrative in regional travel guide and map,
    presence at state travel centers, travel and tourism shows
    and festivals

  • Music in May - live music series in downtown.

  • Spring Fling - Sesquicentennial Celebration Downtown

  • Sabine Stomp - Sesquicentennial Celebration Concert -
    Mineola Nature Preserve

  • Magical Mineola - Christmas event in Downtown

  • Increased presence on social media

  • Development of the Mineola, TX mobile app.

  • Extended area advertising to include Houston, the Hill
    Country and Central Texas, and the DFW metroplex in print
    and online publications

  • Increased advertising to include television with video ads
    during local news and weather programing and online
    apps for the city's events in its Sesquicentennial year.
